Rio Tinto Alcan (RTA) is a division of Rio Tinto and is responsible for the global mining and export of bauxite and aluminium. Within Australia, a primary bauxite mine is located in Northern Queensland's Cape York Peninsula.

Project Overview

The Weipa Airport is an integral asset for RTA's Weipa operations and the local community. In 2011 the decision was made to complete and upgrade to the Airport Departure Terminal.

Scope of Work

Goodline were contracted by RTA to complete the upgrade of the Airport Departure Terminal and undertake the following scope of works:

  • Demolition of existing structures
  • Civil foundations
  • Structural erection of a new terminal building
  • Installation of water and power services
  • Fit-out of the check-in, queuing, office, baggage-handling enclosure and departure lounge of the terminal
