Alcan Amrun Project - Accommodation Village

The Amrun project will extend mining activities on part of Rio Tinto’s existing lease south of the Embley River, between Weipa and Aurukun. The Amrun project includes the construction of a range of infrastructure required to support mining including a processing plant and port near Boyd Bay, a dam, tailings storage facility, roads and a ferry terminal on the Hey River to transport workers from Weipa to the mine.

Scope of Work

  • Design and Construction of Accommodation Village including all civil works, buildings, facilities and services
  • Site Survey and set-out of all buildings, facilities, services, pathways, roadworks and ancillary works
  • Site preparation, clearing and grubbing
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Design, supply and installation of electrical, communications, wireless internet access, TV access, CCTV monitor, lighting, distribution system and power station
  • Supply and installation of 982 accommodation rooms, kitchen and dining, recreational facilities, laundry, camp offices
  • Installation of all pathways, fencing, roofed outdoor amenity, fully irrigated landscaped gardens
  • Swimming pool and sports courts, running track and gymnasium
  • Water Treatment Plant with 14 km piping to village and water reticulation system
  • Fire water system and storage tanks
  • Sewerage Treatment Plant with rising main system
  • Bitumen sealed roads and carpark with signage and line marking
  • Bitumen sealed carpark
