Amrun Project - River Terminals

The Amrun Project is a greenfield bauxite operation in the Weipa/Aurukun region of Western Cape York, Far North Queensland. The new development will eventually replace the existing East Weipa mine centre.

Project Overview

Goodline was awarded the contract for the construction and commissioning of the Humbug Point and Hey River Terminals inclusive of all disciplines and elements. This comprises of:

• Reclamation work, embankment fill into Embley River, construction of the pontoon abutments including the piles
• Installation of the berthing dolphins and navigational aid
• Supply and installation of Flexmat concrete revetments on embankments
• Landside work comprised of the construction of a sealed road with intersection upgrade on John Evans Drive, a carpark and pedestrian pathway and all road markings and signage
• Traffic Management

Scope of Work

• Supply and placement of 24,000m3 of 300mm – 1000mm graded rock for reclamation works
• Importation of approximately 3000m3 of select fill for subgrade build up/replacement of unsuitable subgrade material
• Importation of approximately 6,000T of road base for access road pavement works
• Prime and seal/bitumen seal of approximately 9,000m2 of road pavement surfacing
• Driving of steel piles onshore and offshore ranging from 25m to 40m lengths, 750mm – 1050mm diameter – total of 45 piles
• Supply and install offshore dolphin headstocks (6ea at 7.5T each)
• Supply and placement of approximately 460m3 of reinforced marine grade concrete for pile plugs, abutments and slabs
• Supply and install of 174T of onshore and offshore precast concrete abutments ranging from 16T to 43T each
• Supply and installation of a total of 272T of precast concrete decking units
• Grout placement for various onshore and offshore applications (23T total)
• Supply and install of two pontoon structures (262T mass per each)
• Supply and installation of 4 offshore navigation aid structures (approximately 5T each)
• Supply and installation of underground piping, stormwater drainage structures,  electrical and communications services
• Supply and installation of street lighting
• Installation of approximately 6,000m2 of precast concrete revetment mattresses for scour protection
